Step Out Against Diabetes Walk 09.26.2009

TEAM COLVIN 2008
It is fall, and once again it is time to participate in the Step Out Against Diabetes Walk with our daughter Jen. She has dealt with this disease for almost 2 1/2 years now. She handled Charlie's pregnancy and birth with A-1C numbers that amazed both of her doctors. We are so proud of Jen, her attitude is amazing! She and Team Colvin raised almost $700.00 dollars last year for ADA to fight for a cure for Diabetes. We realize this is a bad year financially for most and that money is tight...but any amount of donation is so appreciated. Even 5.00 will help to find a cure. About 23.6 million people have Diabetes, with 1 of every 3 children developing it in their lifetime. New medical discoveries every day move us closer to wiping out Diabetes. Please, help us by making whatever donation you can. Click on the Step Out button on my sidebar or the link above then click on "Jennifer Colvin" to donate or join the walk. Come join us that day for the walk if you can!

Tag, You're It...

Shannon was tagged by Beth and then Shannon tagged me. The drill was to go to my files and choose my fourth file, fourth picture and post it and tell about the picture. Here is what I found...

This is a picture of my daughter, Jennifer in the party girl dress she wore in her first performance of the Nutcracker. She was 9 years old and it was Sandy Arts Guilds first year performing the entire full length ballet of the Nutcracker. The doll she is holding is the doll giving her at her 8th birthday party at the Lion House. She was so excited about dancing in the ballet, even though it meant wearing sponge rollers in her hair all day at elementary school! Oh, the price we pay for fame.

Jennifer was a elegant, graceful dancer and I never tired of watching her dance. She danced many different rolls in the Nutcracker every year until her Junior year of High School, when she traded her toe shoes for a membership in the modern dance company at HHS.

Way to be, princess! Thanks for the memories Beth and Shannon. I tag Jen, Jaime, Sherine, and Tiffany

11 September 2008

Every September, when fall is in the air, our attentions turn to walking to cure Diabetes. Our daughter, Jennifer was diagnosed a year ago with Type 1 Diabetes. She tests her blood sugar several times a day and uses insulin to keep her numbers in check. This is complicated with the fact that Jennifer is pregnant with a baby boy and due in January 2009. She continues to amaze us, and her doctors with how well she is handling the diabetes. Her A1-C is in a great range and she is doing very well in her pregnancy. The fourth weekend in September, the ADA hosts Step Out & Walk To Fight Diabetes in Salt Lake City. All money raised here stays here. We, as her parents, would like to ask for your help in finding a cure for this disease that affects 20 million Americans, and has 54 million Americans at risk. Would you please consider making a small donation to the American Diabetes Association, in Jennifer's name to be used to further research to find a cure? You can go here to make your donation or give me a check to be turned in at the walk. Every little bit help. No donation is too small. I know some of you have already done so, and Don and I would like to thank you from the bottom of our heart. With every ones help, we can help to cure this disease. Love, Janet and Don
