"With Liberty and Justice..."

Due to the fact that the three youngest grand babies are little sponges and seem to soak up anything that is said or read to them...I thought I might as well be teaching them something important. So mid June, I read them a child's book I have on the Pledge of Allegiance and began teaching them the phrases of the Pledge. They were so excited and really picked it up fast. The mommies reinforced what I taught them at home and added the next phrase. They even gave an impromptu performance to the us at Sun Valley. Whenever they saw a flag like at the Sun Valley Ice Skating Show, the 4th, or at the parades for the 24th, they put their chubby hand over their heart and proudly said, "I Pledge Allegiance!" They can pick out a flag from far away. Smarty pants, all three of them. The newness start to wear off around the 24th so after the parade we went to Build A Bear to make a girl and boy teddy bear to live at Grandmas house. (Dawson was at Lake Powell with his family and Grandpa Bob, so he wasn't here to help make the bears.) Lucy made a girl bear named Liberty and Gracie made a boy one, named Justice. They picked out all red, white, and blue clothes. Whenever I tended the littles during the next couple of weeks...I used Liberty and Justice to get them excited about learning it again. I heard on the radio that some station was giving a free pizza party for the whole class to any student who called in and recited the Pledge of Allegiance. I wonder what they would think if a 2 year old called and recited the Pledge??? I have 5 very smart grand babies!
